Allen W. "Ben" Saunders

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. and Mable K. Saunders; sister, Goldie M. Saunders; brothers, William E. Saunders, Charles P. Saunders, Henry M. Saunders.

Ben was a former employee of Miller & Rhodes, of 25 years, he retired from Stone’s Office Equipment, after 15 years, and was a part of the cash control department at Kings Dominion. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge #168, for 27 years, a life member of Forest Grove United Methodist Church, and a member of Farrington Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Saunders; sons, Allen W. Saunders, Jr., Bernard D. Saunders; brother, Joseph F. Saunders (Jane); sister-in-law, Anna Saunders; and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends 1 PM to 3 PM Monday, at Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy, where a Masonic Service will follow at 3 PM. His funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Red Cross.
