CARNEAL, Barbara D. “Bobbie”, 78, of Ashland, passed away on June 17, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Alvin “Bootsie” Carneal; her parents, Cary Nelson and Evelyn Duke; brother, Cary Nelson Duke, Jr.; and sisters, Shirley D. Coakley and Peggy D. Lane. She is survived by a devoted sister, Ruth F. Duke of Ashland; two grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Webb; nephews, Mike Coakley and Ronnie Coakley; niece Donna C. Emerson; a very special pet, Sparkie; and daughter, Laura. A special thanks to the staff of Elizabeth House, Asera Care, and a longtime friend, Barbara Carter. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hanover Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 470, Hanover, VA 23069.
