Bill Davenport

William Leroy Davenport, born April 15, 1939 passed away peacefully with his family by his side Monday, June 11, 2018 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Davenport; three brothers Lawrence P., Robert E., and Vernon E. Davenport. Also preceding him in death was his first wife of 17 years JoAnne S. Davenport and his second wife of 5 years Malinda W. Davenport. He is survived by two daughters and one son, Susan Davenport, Amy Wright and Rod Wright; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Otto, Michael Schutrumpf, Evelyn, Samuel and William Vandrey, Dylan and David Wright; four great-grandchildren, Casey, Megan and Emily Dawson and Nathan Krzyzanowski; two sisters, Shirley Hall and Bettie Bowen and her husband Stanley; one sister-in-law, Sandy Davenport and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. He loved his family and hosting his family reunions at his river front home was one of his greatest joys. Living and being near the water was his passion. His remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland where the family will receive friends Wednesday, June 13th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home Thursday, June 14th at 2:00 pm. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warriors and/or the March of Dimes.
