

Dale Garfield Salyers, 72, born in Richmond to Garfield Salyers, Jr. and Jacqueline Hammack Salyers, has passed away. He is survived by his brother Jeff Salyers and sister-in-law Jeannie Jackson of Jefferson, SC; sister-in-law Debbie Salyers of Petersburg; his aunt Carol Gwain Hammack of Rosharon, TX; nieces Katrina and Holly, nephews Zach and Nicholas, step-nieces Lisa and Christina, step-nephews Ian and Billy and their families; and many cousins in Virginia and Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother Randy. Dale was a long-serving member of the merchandising team of Saks Fifth Avenue and a member of the congregation and choir of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
He had many interests and passions including films, especially Italian and noir, and music, especially baroque and choral. He was also extremely knowledgeable on the subjects of architectural styles and fashion, always up-to-date on current trends. He had been a member of the Front Runners group in New York City in the 1980s and pursued other athletic outlets in his younger days. Most importantly, he was kind and a help to all in need, a lover of life and its simple joys and will be well and truly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held on October 2nd at 12 p.m. at St Marks Episcopal Church, 520 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA.
