Doris W. Davis

Doris Wuest Davis, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. She was born on March 31, 1927, in Ashland, Virginia, the daughter of Robert William Wuest and Mary Elizabeth Smeeman Wuest. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William “Jim” Lewis Wuest and Robert Albert “Fritz” Wuest; and four sisters, Mamie Lucille Wuest Birdsong, Gladys Katherine Wuest Barnett, Eleanor “Dimples” Wuest Mills and Linda Jean Wuest Dorin, and her husband of 65 years, George Russell Davis. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Brooks (Wayne) and Robin Scott (Ray); five grandchildren, Russell Yohe, Heather Smith (Troy), Hunter Brooks (Stephanie), Brad Yohe (Tara) and Ashby Brooks (Erin); four great-grandchildren, Jett and Summer Smith, Davis Yohe and Avery Brooks and sister, Anna Lee Wuest Wilhite. She and her husband owned and operated Bent Brook Egg Farm for 25 years. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Ashland. She enjoyed family get-togethers with her children and grandchildren and watching golf tournaments on TV. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, with the funeral service on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church Ashland. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to First Baptist Church Ashland, 800 Thompson St., Ashland, VA 23005.
