Dorothy Moody Steele, 90, of Beaverdam passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016. She was born in Beaverdam, VA, on April 11, 1926. Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Steele; sons, Ronald W. Steele and Michael W. Steele, and daughter-in-law; Karla E. Steele. Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Alice Steele; grandchildren, Rita Free (husband, Wayne), Rhonda Booth (husband, Shane), Lauren Steele (fiancé, Sherma Saif); children who she loved as her own, Wayne Thurston, Richard Thurston and Eva Thurston and her great-grandchildren, Aidan Booth, Gabriel Booth and Zakary Booth. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home- Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005, with a visitation an hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Western Hanover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 276, Montpelier, VA 23192.
