

Reverend Elmira Ware "Boo", age 86, of Ashland, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Matilda and James Brown; her granddaughter, Twila Turner; her grandson, Austin Travis; her son, James Williams; and her husbands, Ralph Williams, Fredrick Flannagan, Thomas Ware, and Buddy Mills.
A devoted woman of faith, Reverend Ware served her community as both a reverend and a nanny, touching countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and steady devotion to the Lord. She was a faithful member of the Ashland Church of God and a proud graduate of Henry Clay High School and the School of Theology.
Reverend Ware lived a life filled with purpose and joy. She loved exercising and attending the YMCA, participating in Bible study groups, working on puzzles, and collecting angels—symbols of the faith she carried so deeply in her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Turner; her cherished great-grandchildren, Cassidy "Laynie" Travis, and Adalyn "Addy" Campbell; and her precious great-great-granddaughter, Memory Lane Dow. She also leaves behind her significant other, George David Mahone, and her son-in-law, Bert “Bo" Davis III.
Reverend Ware will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her unwavering faith, and her love for her family. Her legacy will continue to shine through all those whose lives she touched.
A funeral service will be celebrated at Ashland Church of God, 407 Myrtle Street, Ashland, VA, on Thursday, December 4, at 6 PM.
