Elsie Chewning Nuckols

Nuckols, Elsie LaVone Chewning of “Eastview Farm” Beaverdam, Virginia passed away at the age of 91 on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. The daughter of the late Reuben and Adele Satterwhite Chewning of “Woodstock Farm” Farrington, Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, A. Page Nuckols who died in 1991, her daughter-in-law Janet Godsey Nuckols (1999) and grandson-in-law James Michael Apel (2011), her sisters Elba Robertson, Vera Whitmore, Bernice Duncan and Zelma Robinson and her brother Reuben Kenneth Chewning. She is survived by her children Forrest Chewning Nuckols (Olivia), Elaine LaVone Nuckols Mallory (John), Wayne Page Nuckols (Lynn) and Kenneth Newton Nuckols. Her grandchildren Stephanie Mallory Apel, Jay Mallory (Emily), Ben Nuckols (Corina), Taylor Nuckols (Tenille), Matt Nuckols, Rebecca Nuckols Harris (Glenn) Jen Goodman Nulthemeier (Brent), Sherry Goodman Lycett (Bob), Hannah Martin Bryant (Thomas). Her great-grandchildren: Maya and Molly Apel, Emery, Mason, Marissa and Coleman Nuckols, Lena Mae Harris, Christopher Fagan, Nicholas Thurston, Ava, Charlotte and Libby Nulthemeier, Anne Lycett, Bryer and Tatum Bryant. Her sister Jean Chewning Beatley of Richmond; her sister-in-laws Ada-Clarke Nuckols Davis of Reedville and Dorothy Chewning of Richmond; numerous nieces, nephews and her cherished young friend – Michael Attassino. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 South Washington Highway, Ashland, Virginia 23005 on Sunday, December 11th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be held at Berea Baptist Church, 15475 Ashland Road, Rockville, Virginia 23146 on Monday, December 12th at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
