BOWLES, George Ray, 64, of Glen Allen, went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2016. He was the son of the late “Ed” and Annie Bowles and was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Bogar. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Bowles; children, Shelly Jacobs (Richard), Shanna Bowles (Jamie), and Sherilyn Bowles (David); grandchildren, Isaiah, Fiona, Infinite, David, Alexis, and Callia; brothers, Joe Bowles (Sheila), Nelson Bowles, Jackie Bowles, and Frances Bowles; sister-in-law, Toby Bowles; and his beloved dogs, Luke and Rascal. Ray attended Greenwood United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and fisherman. Ray was a civil war and history buff. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6-8pm at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005, where services will take place at 11am on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Interment will be at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Virginia.
