

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Chenault; and his siblings, Edith Ayers, Bernard Chenault, Thomas Chenault, and Berniece Tucker.
James was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid gardener, known for his love of growing Hanover tomatoes. James enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding around on his golf cart and cutting grass on his lawnmower. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially the dogs he had over the years. James took pride in his sugar shack that he built himself, where he would share "true facts" with family and friends. As a World War II veteran, he had countless stories of his adventures overseas and in Germany. James will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on through the love and joy he brought to those around him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane Chenault; children, Christina Karnes, Suzie Charles, Regina Gresham (Jason); step-children, Brenda Petty (Scott) and Roy Chenault (Virginia); 11 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Alvin Chenault (Linda), George Chenault (Judy); brother-in-law, Clarence Tucker; friend and nephew, Dwayne Altice; and several nieces and nephews.
