James W. “Jimmy” Kirby, Sr., 68, of Mineral, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016. He lived in Ashland for 35 years and is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mary Kirby; three sons, Jay (Vickie), Bobby (Sharon) and Matt (Mary); brother, Edward Lee Kirby; uncle, Billy Tyler; aunt, Lois Littlepage; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and caring friends. He worked for VDOT for 44 years and retired at the age of 62. One great man gone to heaven. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 5th at Nelsen Funeral Home Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm where services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6th at Nelsen Funeral Home Reid Chapel at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
