Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Vernon Mills; her son, Aubrey Thomas Cornett; and her sister, Maryanne Fisher.
A compassionate and caring woman, Jean worked as a teacher’s aide, where she found great joy in helping children with special needs learn and grow. Her patience, kindness, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on the many lives she touched. She was a faithful member of Fork Baptist Church and cherished her church family and the many events and fellowship they shared together.
Jean had a love for life’s simple treasures. She enjoyed thrift shopping, browsing yard sales, searching for antiques, making crafts, traveling, and attending church events. More than anything, she treasured spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas season, when creating memories with those she loved brought her the greatest happiness. She will also be lovingly remembered by her cherished dogs, Biscuit and Bailey, who brought her endless companionship and joy.
She is survived by her loving children, William Edward Cornett, Deborah Jean Kirby, Kathy Ann Hamlett, Linda Sue Kacmarski, Betty Jean Arnold, Charles John Mills, and Joseph Vernon Mills, Jr. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Linda Bullock and Charlene Armistead, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her love, warmth, and caring heart.
Jean’s legacy of compassion, faith, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
