Jimmie Fred Johnson

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Johnson; and his parents Edd and Thelma Bailey.

Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Allen (Carl) and Sherry Mayhew (Rusty); Grandchildren, Amanda Lawson (Jeff), Anthony Allen (Sarah), Bailey Edmonds (Krystal), Stephen Mayhew, Jr (Chasity) and Dulin Mayhew; six Great Grandchildren, Madison, Abby, Colten, Hayden, Kaden and Hannah; and his loving little brother, John B. Johnson (Alma), niece Cindy and nephew Patrick and special family members, Carolyn, Jerry and Patsy.

Jimmie was a member of Gwathmey Baptist Church. He served in the US Army from 1953 - 1961 where his most memorable time was spent in Hokkaido, Japan. He was employed with Transit Lumber Company where he retired from. Jimmie was a Life member of the VFW, Loyal Order of Moose 2099 where he earned his Pilgrim degree. He loved his visits with his grandchildren and especially his great granddaughters.

The family thanks the Retreat Hospital ICU nurses, Dr. K, Wound Care staff and a special thank you to Betty, Nicole, and Diana for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3rd from 6 -8 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 4th at 10:00 am, both at Nelsen Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gwathmey Baptist Church in Ashland, VA.
