.IRBY, John Anderson, 75, went to be with the Lord January 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Johnnie Irby. John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty; a daughter, Kim; and numerous cousins. John was a retired coach and teacher at Tucker High School and a retired administrator of Byrd Middle School. He was a member of the Tucker Hall of Fame and the Douglas Freeman Hall of Fame. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Ashland. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 800 Thompson St., Ashland, Va 23005, where a visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 12, in the church sanctuary and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 13, with a reception following.
