John Henry Mason Jr.

Born on April 12, 1941, in Ashland, VA, he was the son of the late John Henry Mason Sr. and Bessie Lee Nance.

John was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ryland and James Mason.

John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Norma Mason; son, John "Bubba" Henry Mason III ; daughters, Betty Love (Jeff) of Ridgeley, WV, and Barbara Dillon (Dave) of Beaverdam, VA. He was a cherished grandfather to Tosha, Jeffrey, Brandon, and Raven Love; Sierra Lintz; Michael, Michelle, and Melissa Robinson; and Danny, Jackie, and Tori Dillon. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Logan, Ayden, Kinsley, Phoenix, Theia, and Atlas; sister, Nancy Searles; and his beloved pets, Tippy and Bandit.

John's presence brought light and laughter to those around him, and his kindness touched the hearts of many. His humor, often shared among friends and family, will be dearly missed. John's legacy of warmth and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.

His passing is a significant loss to the community and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family and friends mourn his departure but celebrate the full life he led and the numerous memories they carry forward.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will begin at 1pm on Saturday, August 24th at Nelsen Funeral Home with burial to follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens, 13389 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23059.
