It is with profound sadness, but immense gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of John “Padge” Padgett Severin on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of his life and daughters.
Padge is survived by his beloved wife, Kim, whose love and companionship brought him endless joy; his devoted daughters, Rebecca, Anne Kathryn, Kristy, and Carolyn; his cherished grandchildren, Brennan, Lily, Bo, Jack, and Kellan, who were among the greatest blessings of his life; his amazing siblings, Becky, Paul, Nancy, Powell, and Mary Kathryn; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless others whose lives were brighter because they knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Carolyn Severin.
Padge LOVED his family. His greatest joy was simply being “Dad” and “KooCoo.” Whether he was sitting in the stands cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, sharing stories with his daughters, or spending quiet moments with Kim, he found his greatest happiness in the people he loved.
A gifted athlete at Patrick Henry High School, Padge, also known as “Squirrel”, participated in football, track, basketball, and golf, and continued his love of golf well into his life. He loved the beach and a cold, strong beer. He loved his truck, a good Wawa coffee, and his special peanut patch. He also enjoyed helping Kim prepare for the Ashland farmers market by working around their farm, “Materra.” Padge loved working on cars and was known to fix anything! He loved taking things apart and learning how they worked. He was fascinated by computers and technology throughout his career. He enjoyed this life and especially loved music and singing along and out loud classic rock ballads. He was a true romantic with a deep love for all the beautiful things in this world and always had a joke up his sleeve to make you laugh.
Padge held a lifelong affection for his hometown of Ashland and all the people he knew throughout his life. We are endlessly grateful that he was OURS.
Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Padge’s life at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005, on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5-7 PM.
Forever our Padge. Forever our Dad. Forever our KooCoo. Forever in our hearts.
