He was preceded in death by his loving and cherished wife, Gladys Gayle.
Joe dedicated many years of hard work as a steelworker with Custom Ornamental Iron. A man of strong faith, he was a member of the Baptist community and also belonged to the Moose Lodge in Ashland, Virginia. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially tending to his animals on the "Gayle Farm" and spending peaceful days fishing.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Martin, and her husband, Leslie; his brother, Tommy Gayle; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members and close friends who will cherish his memory.
Services are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Animal Shelter in his honor.
