Judy Hays Aderhold
February 15, 1944 – November 18, 2018
Aderhold, Judy Hays, 74, of Ashland, Va., passed away on Sunday November 18th, 2018. Judy was born in Staunton, Virginia, to Elmer and Irene Hays and later moved to Richmond to attend nursing school. After starting her family, she spent the rest of her life in the Ashland area of Hanover County. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David and a sister, Ann Hoft (Johnny) of New Port Richie, FL. Surviving her are her sons David (Kelly) and Daniel (Wayne) as well as grandchildren Griffin, Anne Rhodes, Howard and Hays. Judy is also survived by a family of friends who meant the world to her and surrounded her with great support and comfort during her illness. Judy was a proud 1964 graduate of Grace Hospital in Richmond and spent her life caring for others as a RN. Her nursing school classmates from Grace Hospital were known as the “Saving Graces” and have a long history together. The time together and memories she carried with this group were cherished by her. She was also a dedicated member of Ashland Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir each week. Judy could also regularly be found associating with the knitting group known as “The Purls”, another group of friends that were special to her. A memorial service will be held at Ashland Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 30th at 11:00, 401 Virginia St, Ashland, VA. A reception will follow immediately after at the nearby Hanover Arts & Activities Center, 500 South Center Street, Ashland, VA.
