Karen Denise McVay

Karen was preceded in death by David and Maire Olson and sisters, Cindy Pettingill and Kathy English.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, William McVay Jr.; children, James Pettus, Heather Burt (Kevin), and Virginia McVay; and grandchildren, Kyra Pettus, Xavier Herrera, and Trinity Herrera.

Karen received her Associate's degree and was a certified nurse, a career that reflected her nurturing spirit and commitment to helping others. She later transitioned into the field of tax preparation, where she became well known for her expertise and dedication over more than 10 years. She finished her career as an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, Karen earned the trust and respect of her clients and colleagues alike.

She was a devoted grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially when they were building Legos. Her love for music and gardening brought joy to her life, and she took special pride in her collection of roses and orchids. Karen’s passion for life was evident in everything she did, from her professional achievements to the tender care she gave to her family, including her cherished dogs.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Karen's honor.
