Kathleen Hamby Luck

Kathleen Hamby Luck, age 88, of Montpelier, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 8, 2025. She was born April 29, 1937, to George Roosevelt and Bessie Lowry Hamby in Beaverdam, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Wilbert "Johnny" Luck, her sister Jean Hamby Jones, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl D. and Josephine C. Hamby, and William D. and Sarah W. Hamby.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsey Luck Johnson and Charles A. Johnson, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Austin A. and Mary Katherine Reda Johnson, brother and sister-in-law, George R. Jr. and Virginia N. Hamby, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was a 1954 graduate of Beaverdam High School and was employed by Atlantic Life Insurance for several years. She was a lifelong member of Chapel Church of Christ, Montpelier, VA. She always enjoyed working in her yard and garden and looking forward to her next "Project". Above all, she was completely devoted to caring for her family throughout her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to Kathleen's visitation at Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA on Wednesday, May 14 from 5-8 PM and on Thursday, May 15 from

10-11 AM at Chapel Church of Christ, 16263 Woodman Hall Rd., Montpelier, VA . The funeral service will start promptly at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
