She leaves behind an amazing legacy with her family and an even wider impact in the field of nursing. For 29 years, she taught at Richmond Memorial School of Nursing. It was never hard to find an RN who Mom had taught when someone in the family was needing medical attention. While being treated, her family would learn about the positive and lasting impact she had on those she taught.
The devastation of losing her is tempered by knowing she is no longer suffering the challenges of Parkinson’s. Linda Lee was a fighter and Taurus stubborn all the way until the end. She was fiercely independent and always taking care of those she loved. Her joy came from helping others – be it us two-legged critters or her much beloved four-legged felines.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom. Surviving are her son, David A. Varner and his husband Edgar U. Cota and her daughter, Kelly L. Pocta and her husband David F. Pocta; her sister-in-law Linda A. Meunier and her husband Paul A. Meunier; three beloved grandchildren, Kevin D. Pocta and his wife Jamie, Matthew B. Pocta and his wife Amelia and Michael T. Pocta and his wife Ashton; six great grandchildren; four nephews and one niece.
