Byers, Lucille Gibson, 81, of Glen Allen, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A beloved wife, mother, grandma, and granna, Lucille leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and true selflessness. Lucille dedicated her life to caring for others, enhancing the countless lives that she touched. She enjoyed donating her time and talent to others in their time of need, whether physically caring for a sick friend or family member, preparing meals for others, sewing and quilting special blankets for veterans, or crocheting hats to warm the heads of cancer patients and preemie babies. Lucille could make or do anything she set her mind to and had a knack for making something out of nothing. Lucille’s tears during her time of illness were not for herself, but for those she would leave behind. In the last few months, as Lucille witnessed how her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends returned her lifelong love of caring for others not only in their care for her, but for each other, she knew it would be okay for her to go to her forever home, Heaven. She will watch over those she loved and will be waiting to see you there. Lucille was an active member of Biltmore Baptist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday School Class and Women’s Bible Study. She was a member of Piecemakers Quilting group as well as other sewing and quilting groups where she shared many laughs and tears. Lucille was predeceased by her mother and father, Ruth and George Gibson. Lucille is survived by her loving family; husband, John of 59 years; two sons, John (Terrie) and David (Corlette); two daughters, Teresa (Robert) and Cindy (Wayne); eight grandchildren, Brandon, Sam (Katherine), Kristen (Troy), Elizabeth, William, Katelyn (Tyler), Johnathon(Lizzy), and Andrew; three great grandchildren, Evelyn, Layla, and Mia; three brothers, George (Martha Lynn), Sanford (Claudine), and Bernice Lee (Teresa); and one sister, Joyce Ann (Marvin); her mother-in-law, Frances; one brother-in-law, Daniel (Nancy); three sisters in law, Doris (Ted), Adeline (Lawrence), and Sally; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
