Lucille Person Saunders

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen W. "Ben" Saunders; her parents, Robert and Ivy M. Person; her brothers, Edward F. Person and Robert R. Person; her sisters, Anna Ehrlich and Evelyn R. Wright; and an infant sister, Bertha L Person.

Lucille was a proud graduate of Henry Clay High School, Class of 1959. Lucille dedicated much of her life to her home and family as a loving housewife. She also worked with Cokesbury Books and at Kings Dominion, where she enjoyed connecting with the community. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Forest Grove United Methodist Church.

Lucille had a passion for sewing and gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She found peace and joy in the outdoors and had a special love for collecting rocks of all kinds, each one a small treasure in her eyes.

She is survived by her two devoted sons, Allen Wallace Saunders, Jr. and Bernard Dilean Saunders; her sister-in-law, Jane Saunders; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Lucille's visitation at Nelsen Funeral Home- 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA on Wednesday, June 25 from 9 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, VA.
