Mary Margaret Dean Goodloe

Goodloe, Mary Dean, of Ashland, VA, born April 29, 1922 went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2013. She passed peacefully and was surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Colby S. Goodloe, Sr. her daughter-in-law Lisa Goodloe; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Colby “Toby” Goodloe, Jr. ( Lynn), Karen Resau, Raymond Goodloe, Thomas Goodloe ( Kim); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was known as Aunt Mary to those who loved her. She retired from the Hanover County Health Department and was very active in the community. She served with the ladies of the VFW Post 10657, American Legion Post 175, and the Ashland Moose Lodge #2099. She loved to dance and was a fabulous cook. She gave of her time and talents generously at every stage of life. She spent her last few years in assisted living at Our Lady of Hope and made many new friends. She had friends and family that visited often and she never lost touch with the people in her life. She loved to write cards and receive them. Reading, playing cards, Bingo, and going out to eat were some of her favorite past times. Her Sunday school family at Winn’s Baptist church stayed in touch faithfully and she continued to go to worship services at Our Lady of Hope. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was ready when she was called home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Colby & Mary Goodloe Memorial Fund with the Hanover Arc, P.O. Box 91, Ashland, VA 23005. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 9 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy. Ashland. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
