

Michael Jay Molter, aged 58, passed away on October 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah Molter; father, John Molter; mother, Sherry Molter; Aunts Vicki Bascom & Ann Molter, and Uncle Fran Wildrick.
To know Mike was to love him. He was a kind soul who was always willing to go above and beyond to help any and every one he met. He faithfully served in public works for the town of Ashland for 22 years. Mike was a devoted husband, loving father, and brother, and cherished those who called him “Pop.”
Mike had a deep passion for the outdoors and was commonly found fishing in the open waters. He found comfort in the company of fishing with his buddies and family. He also spent many nights with friends and family, hard at work in his shop “Busted Knuckle Garage.”
He is survived by his sons Justin Molter (Chelsea), Austin May (Shannon), Wesley May (Madison); grandchildren Cameron Molter, and Magnolia & Gwendolyn May; Brother Chad Molter (Bethany); Nephews Cru, Kai, & Bodi Molter; Uncles Fred Bascom (Janet) & Richard Molter, Aunt Doreen Wildrick, Brother-in-law Ryland Smart (Stephanie), and sister-in-laws Diane Bierlair (Allen), & Donna Adams (Tim).
Mike will be remembered for his generous heart and the compassion he showed when faithfully lending a helping hand to others.
Family and friends are invited to Mike’s visitation on November 1, 2025, at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel of Ashland, VA, from 1-3 pm.
