R. Stuart Carlton

Carlton, Roland Stuart 86 of Glen Allen, Va., a Virginia Baptist Minister for over 41 years, died on February 7, 2019. He is survived by his devoted wife, Audrey Jarratt Carlton; by their three children and spouses: Vicki and Billy White of Metamora, Ill., Roland and Ellen Carlton of Staunton, Va., Susan and Mark Montrief of Fredericksburg, Va.; by seven grandchildren: Kara and (Jeremy) Logan, Keith and (Bre) White, Mary Beth Carlton, Phillip Carlton, Rachel Carlton, Katelyn Montrief and Luke Montrief; by three great grandchild, Cooper Logan, Levi Logan and Eli White. He was educated at Mars Hill College, The University of Richmond, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as Pastor at six Baptist churches from 1956-1997. He served as a member of the Virginia Baptist Board for six years, and as First Vice President of the Board for one term. He was pre-deceased by his parents: Raymond L. and Ruby K. Carlton and by his brother Leslie Carlton. The family will be receiving friends February 10th at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Route 1, Ashland, Va. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Ashland, building fund. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Ashland, Va. on Monday February 11th at 11:00am with the Rev. Robert Thompson and the Rev. John Fox officiating. There will also be a memorial service at Bonsack Baptist Church, 4845 Cloverdale Rd Roanoke Va. on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00am.
