Robert Andrew Jones

Andy was born in North Carolina to the late Robert C. & Jo L. Jones. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of 42 years, his 3 sons, who he loved with all his heart: Robert Les (Amanda), Richard D., & Jeffrey L. (Megan) Jones, all of Hanover. His beloved 7 grandchildren: Nolan, Elizabeth, Cora, Hayden, Blake, Hannah, and Josie Jones. He is also survived by 4 siblings: Kathy Mitchell, David Jones (Connie), Becky Lightfoot (AC), and JoElaine Justis (Taylor). 

Andy was a proud graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, class of 1976. He enjoyed hunting and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was the former president of New Canton Hunt Club in Buckingham of which his family created in 1947. 

Andy enjoyed playing guitar and loved listening to any song with a 12-string in it. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and could tell you any stat of any driver. He also enjoyed watching his Washington Nationals baseball team and the Washington Commanders Football. One of his highlights was going to the ballfield and cheering his grandchildren on. Recently, he had been getting much enjoyment in setting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds fly around his head and fight! 

He leaves behind a pile of great memories for us to cherish and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Celebration of life and visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2025 from 2-4pm and service at 4pm at the Nelsen Funeral Home in Ashland, VA In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society.
