McDermott, Robert L., 69, of Ashland, passed away on May 16, 2015. He is survived by his two stepsons, Kevin McDermott and Peter McDermott; step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn McDermott; age 20; brother, Richard McDermott; niece, Beth Ann McDermott; and nephew, Todd McDermott. Robert was retired from Kroger. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Colonial Beach. Robert served as a Seabee in the Navy and served 2 tours in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion. Robert loved the outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor and such a positive attitude throughout everything. He had a smile that would light up a room.
