Obituary of Scott Melton
. . . . . Brady “Scott” Melton, of Doswell, Virginia, born October 13, 1950 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late William Lee Melton and Nola G Melton, passed away at age 70 on October 8, 2021. Scott attended Douglas Southall Freeman High school and then Chowan College. Later he joined the United States Air Force and served a tour of duty in Saigon, Vietnam and Nakon Phanom Thailand. Scott served as a Sergeant with the Strategic Air Command. He then went on to work in the computer industry and resided in Virginia Beach for many years where he met his wife, Susan. He later moved to Richmond to join his family’s business. Scott was a true patriot, he loved God, country and family. Scott enjoyed the senior’s softball, and golfing with his Uncle Tommy and his many Hanover CC comrades. Scott loved being outdoors, watching nature and spending many a day out on his Hanover county property. He was loved by his family and friends for his memorable voice and laugh, his quick witted humor, thoughtfulness and his incredible cooking. He was a pleasure to be around, had a big heart and a bigger than life presence. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Susan Melton. He will be greatly missed by his mother Nola Melton, sister Denise Goodwin (Chap), brother Mark Melton (Emma Lee), in-laws: Bob Rudolph (Jeanne), James Rudolph (Susan), Thomas Rudolph (Kelly), William Rudolph (Linh), and Steven Rudolph (Sylvia), Gail Anderson (James), and Barbara Butler; 10 nieces, 8 nephews, 1 uncle, 3 aunts, and many cherished cousins. Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Tuesday, October 12th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland VA 23005. Funeral services will be held at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA on Wednesday October 13th at 10:30am. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s fund, Tunnel 2 Towers or your favorite charity.
