

Scott graduated from Hampden Sydney College with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and received his Master’s of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at Hampton Sydney, Scott volunteered with the Hampden Sydney Volunteer Fire Department for three and a half years. When he started at VCU, Scott began his 37-year career with Richmond City Fire.
Scott met his wife Lisa in 1987, they got engaged six months into dating, and were married six months later. They built a home in Beaverdam, Virginia, where they raised their two daughters, Lauren and Emilie, and multiple pets.
In addition to his career with Richmond City Fire, Scott had a painting business, was a member and long-time treasurer of the Beaverdam Ruritan Club, and member of the Schoenhut Collectors’ Club.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Gloria Foos (Rocky); and father, Harry E. Schoenhut Jr. (Dorothy).
Scott is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lisa; his daughters, Lauren and Emilie; his faithful companion and fur-baby, Murphy; grand fur-baby, Siah; his sister, Stephanie Stringer (Jay); step-siblings, Cathy Graff (Mitch), Clark Graff (Jill), Chris Graff (Theresa); cousins, Jay Rountree (Beth), Rod Rountree; mother-in-law, Linda Palmore (Bobby); brother-in-law, Greg Smithson (Teri); sister-in-law, Jami Smithson; many nieces and nephews; close family friends, Jan and Roger Cooley, George, Janine, Genna D’Antonio; the fire department brotherhood; and Ruritan members.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Elon Baptist Church, 14031 Verdon Rd Ruther Glen, VA 22546. A time for fellowship will follow.
