

Sean Austin Serra, 27, of Doswell, VA unexpectedly passed away on July 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mack and Barbara Burdette. Sean was born in Lansdale, PA on June 15, 1995.
He graduated from Garden Spot High School in Lancaster County, PA. Sean received an Associate’s Degree of General Studies from Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, PA. He was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations with a concentration in Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where he was to graduate in December of 2022.
He started his drag racing career at the age of 8, spending most of his time racing at Maple Grove Raceway. He was a 2008 National Champion in Junior Dragster. His career took him across the world to Doha, Qatar, where he was a Drag Racing Instructor for Qatar Racing Club and earned multiple ADRL Drag Race Championships. He moved into full size dragsters in 2012 with many accomplished wins over the years including a $100,000 win at Darlington Dragway in Hartsville, South Carolina. Additionally, he had a couples challenge race win alongside his fiancé, Allison Amanda Lloyd, at Carolina Dragway in Aiken, SC. Most recently he won a $20,000 race and had a semi-final finish in the $500,000 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
Left to cherish his memory is his fiancé, Allison Amanda Lloyd; his girls, Blue, Molly, and Ellie; parents, Craig and Christy Serra; siblings, Jeff Serra, Miranda Serra, and Michelle Floyd; grandparents, Charlie and Beth Serra; two nieces, Adrienne and Brianna Serra; aunt, Angela (Bill) Schell; Uncles, Mike (Frances) and Scott (Julie) Burdette; cousins, Matt Schell and Taylor (Jacob) Hawkes and their daughter, Sadie; as well as a large racing community.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022 and again from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, July 15 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA where a funeral service will follow at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be created in Sean's honor.
