Thomas Harold Putnam III

Thomas "Tom" Harold Putnam III, 65, of Ashland, passed away on September 6, 2017. He was a prolific golfer, fisherman, fan of the Baltimore Orioles, and enjoyed coaching adult softball and his children's little league teams. Tom was active in church service through his entire life, teaching Sunday school, serving as youth leader, deacon, and elder in his churches. Tom is survived by his wife, Carolyn Putnam; daughter, Wendy Putnam (Tim Petronello); son, Scott Putnam (Sarah); step-children, Lauren Bruce (Jesse Stretch), Tyler Bruce (Jessica), and Amy Sadler (Jon); grandchildren, Bryce, Hadley, Corbin, Amelia, Jonas and Abel; brother, Lewis Putnam and many loving close friends and family. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Slash Christian Church, 11353 Mt Hermon Rd, Ashland, VA 23005, with a visitation one hour prior to service.
