Wendy Kaye McCreary, 64, of Ashland, Virginia, lost her courageous and painful battle with a rare and aggressive cancer on February 25, 2025. Wendy will forever be in the hearts of her parents, Don and Karen McCreary; daughter, Haley French; brothers, Mark and Michael McCreary; sister, Cindy McCreary; uncle, Jeffry Brandenburg; nephew, Khalen Ryberg; niece, Kira Ryberg; fiancé, Johnny Amos; as well as numerous cousins and countless close friends.
Wendy was born on June 15, 1960, and she graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Ashland in 1978. Wendy was the sole-proprietor of AHR Locksmith Service for over 30 years and shared her incredible locksmith skills with laughter around the entire region. As a single mother, she devoted herself to her daughter, Haley.
Wendy loved cooking for her family, camping, attending concerts, riding a Harley with Johnny, riding horses, and playing an excellent game of cornhole. If there was fun to be had, Wendy was there. Wendy and Johnny were mainstays at the annual Muddy Roots Music Festival in Cookeville, TN for years as they operated “Camp Jello,” and were known by all as Momma Jello and Jello Johnny. Festival organizers will recognize the loss of Wendy at this year’s event.
A benefit concert is scheduled at the Huddle Up Restaurant in Ashland on March 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Proceeds will go towards Wendy’s medical bills and her daughter (Venmo @John-Amos-61).
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home-Reid Chapel in Ashland on March 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The family will begin greeting family and friend at 10:00 AM
The family extends our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Virginia Cancer Institute for their efforts.
