William Jefferson Minton, Sr. (Bill), 84, of Ashland, Virginia, went to be with our Lord on November 10, 2014. Bill was born January 14, 1930 in Weems, Virginia. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lucetta C. Minton; two children, Anthony W. Minton (Wendy) and Sandra Y. Durham (Rob); brother, David Minton; sister, Virginia Keys; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Ada L. Bobak, and three children, William J. Minton, Jr., Kathleen M. Wells, and Robert L. Minton. Bill proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Bill was also a long-time member of Winn’s Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home- Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005, where a funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park.
