Zell Davis Turner went home to the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 25th, 2015. She also reunited with her late husband, the love of her life, Melvin Turner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lora and Lonza Davis; her brothers, Millard and Roger Davis; and, her sisters, Eunice Bass and Audrey Harden.
Zell is survived by her only child, Janie Turner Robertson (Alan) of Ashland, Virginia; a granddaughter, Kimberly Winters; a grandson, John Alan Madison (Rachel); five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Turner, Kara, Alexa, and Sabrina; and her granddog, Murphy.
She also leaves behind her two sisters-in-law, Frances Davis and Shirley Davis; two nieces, Linda Robson and Kristen Stone; and many lifelong friends.
Zell was born in Louisa and lived there for 89 years before moving to Hanover Manor in Ashland, VA to be closer to her family. She loved living there for 3 ½ years, making many new friends among other residents and staff. She was a lifelong member of Gilboa Christian Church.
Zell will certainly be remembered for her kind heart and loving spirit. When she was in better health, she always brought food to families who lost a loved one or took people to their doctors’ appointments when they needed a ride. She also loved to shop, looking for that special bargain. Whether it was a sale at Macy’s, a yard sale, or an estate sale, they were all fun for her. She gave away much of what she bought because she said the pleasure was in the bargaining not in the keeping.
We, her family and friends, will miss her very much but she left us with a legacy of love and compassion that will remain with us forever.
