Arnold Paul Koller

November 1, 1934 – December 19, 2012

Arnold Koller of Assiniboia, SK, and formerly of the Scout Lake District, passed away with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Markus and Lorna; son Johnny and brother, Eric, Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gene (Piché); children: Wendy (John) Altwasser, Keith (Louise) Koller, Nancy (Doug) Crosson, Beverly (Wes) Sedrovic and Aaron (Savannah) Koller; grandchildren: Brett Altwasser, Fallon Altwasser, Loren Koller, Emily Koller, Liam Crosson, Sara Crosson, Tasha Lee Sedrovic and Ashton Sedrovic; great-grandchildren Madison Altwasser and Hudson Altwasser; siblings: Richard (Colleen) Koller and Cathy (Terry) Ausmus, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arnold was born in a farm house on the east side of 12 mile lake on November 1, 1934. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Scout Lake. He attended the Hay Meadow School. Arnold started farming with his father at a young age. He purchased his own farm east of Scout Lake in 1962. He had a natural mechanical ability and was able to repair almost anything that broke down or wore out on the farm. He also became the area furnace repair man. He would answer calls at any time of the day or night. In 1997 Dad sold the farm and moved to Assiniboia to retire. Retirement did not last for long as he got a job as a Pest Control Officer with several R.M.’s. He loved this job, as it gave him the opportunity to travel from farm to farm visiting with everyone. It did not take long until he became well known as the ‘Ratman’. Dad shared his life with many great friends. He loved the time he spent with each one of them, whether it was fishing, bowling or going for afternoon coffee.

Funeral Service was held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:30 PM at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Father Joy Montiague officiated. Gene lit the Pascal Candle. Tribute was given by Wendy and Aaron and Urn Bearer was Keith. A Guard of Honour was formed by members of the Lisieux and Assiniboia Knights of Columbus. Honorary Pallbearers were: Leo Prefontaine, Art Sabourin, Paul Lanoie, Melvin Hutchinson, David Faucher, Grant Payant, and Lloyd Heatcoat. Readers were Julie Prefontaine, Loren Koller, and Colleen Koller. Donations in Memory of Arnold may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency-Allan Blair Cancer Centre.
