

Charles Edward Jarton was born Feb 8th, 1930 to Edward and Mary Jarton with three older sisters; Margaret, Edith and Blanch. At age 16, he left school to help with the family farm. Charlie married Vivian Bloom on July 17th, 1950. Charlie and Vivian had five children: Terry, Linda, Alfred, Delmer and Darlene. They lived on a mixed farm south east of Rockglen, Saskatchewan. Charlie liked nature, the cattle part of farming, hunting and joking with friends. Charlie had different jobs to supplement the farm; like the weed inspector, crop adjustor and a tree moving business. He was also community minded, serving as Reeve and Councillor of Rural Municipality #12, local snow plow club, committee to bring rural telephone service, Rockglen hall board, Co-op board, and Rockglen town council. Charlie was an over 30-year member of AA, helping many. Charlie died in Providence Place Care Home in Moose Jaw, Sask. on April 16th, 2023 at age 93, after a long fight with dementia and diabetes. Vivian had passed a few months earlier. He is survived by all children: Terry (Gayle), Linda Stewart (Jim passed), Alfred (Debbie), Delmer (Jacquie), Darlene Carr (Earl passed), seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife Vivian, both parents and all of his siblings and their spouses. Most of Charlie's 93 years were spent on the farm, except for a short time welding in British Columbia where his sisters and parents had moved. Charlie was a talented welder, horseman and cattleman.
Funeral Service for Charlie was held Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 at the Rockglen Community Hall at 2:00 pm; a joint Funeral Service with his wife of 72 years, Vivian. Linda Kirby officiated. Tribute by nephew, Lon Borgerson. Readers were Jacquie Ryan and Michael Ryan. Pallbearers were grandsons and friends: Chad Jarton, Kyle Jarton, Brett Stewart, Kevin Hagley, Michael Ryan and Ron Daviduk. Interment at Rockglen Cemetery.
