
Chester "Bud" Vancuren, 82, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed peacefully on February 2, 2015 in the Regina General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Louisie (Andersen) Vancuren. Born in Bengough, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Nelson) Vancuren. Bud was raised on a farm near Big Beaver, Saskatchewan, and attended school in Red Stone, Regina and Big Beaver before being a member of the first high school graduating class of Big Beaver in 1952. He took over the family farm and farmed until 2012, when he retired and moved to Coronach, Saskatchewan. Bud believed strongly in the family farm, and was proud that his son, Garth and grandson, Jared took over the farm. In addition to his wife Louisie, Bud is survived by his daughter, Lynn Berthelot (Scott Felton) and his sons, Bradley (Gloria), Garth (Janna), and Darren (Carol). He is also survived by his sisters, Della Skogstad, Betty Pond (Marvin Eddy), and Gloria (Ron) Simpson and brothers, Vergil (Faye) and Rodney (Bunny), and sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderson, May (Paul) Warken, Marge Andersen, Suzanne Ward and brother-in-law, Ernest (Sharon) Andersen. He also had a legacy of thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Haley, Grayson, Dylan, Van, Sophie, Jason, and Blake. Bud’s Funeral Service was held Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Big Beaver Community Hall. The Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated. Tribute to Dad was given by son, Brad. Honorary Pallbearers were granddaughters: Jacylyn Gibson, Amanda Bartlett, Taryl Vancuren, Kyra Vancuren, Erin Berthelot, and Amy Berthelot. Pallbearers were grandsons: Kevin Berthelot, Myles Berthelot, Eric Berthelot, Alex Berthelot, Jared Vancuren, Brett Vancuren, and Lucas Vancuren. Burial followed at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery, Coronach, Saskatchewan. Donations in Memory of Bud may be made to the Coronach Handi-Van Fund, Big Beaver Community Hall or Big Beaver Drop-In-Centre.
