Dennis Edgar Gibson

Dennis Edgar Gibson, 61, passed away suddenly at home on May 7, 2016. He was born on Sept 13, 1954 in Coronach, SK. The son of Alvin & Muriel Gibson, he was raised on the family farm southeast of Willow Bunch. He was predeceased by his parents Alvin & Muriel, sister Myrna, father-in-law Clarence Foley and many other family members and friends. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Kathy (Foley), daughter Jennifer and son Cameron, his siblings Elaine, Dale (Gail), Glenda (Dan), Al (Tonnie) and Brent (Suzanne), mother-in-law Berniece Foley as well as numerous other relatives. He attended school in Willow Bunch and then joined his Dad on the family farm where he worked all his life, fulfilling his lifelong dream. He married Kathy Foley in 1974 in Coronach, SK. She joined him on the farm and together they worked many years and raised their family. Over the years he had many jobs including: farm hand, carpenter, dragline operator, delivery truck driver and equipment operator. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and yard work. He strived to have his garden in as soon as possible. Dennis was a very conscientious worker and would always go over and above to help his co-workers. He took pride in everything he did and found joy in finishing a job on his to do list. He enjoyed leather work, quadding, hunting, trapping, welding, fishing, skidooing, building buggies, raising different animals or trying a new venture. He was a very skilled mechanic and builder. He had a curious mind and was always excited to see how a new project would work out. Before he finished one project he was already planning his next one. His friends and family all remember enjoying a cup of Nabob coffee at his kitchen table. Dennis taught his family to live for the moment and not worry about the future, find joy in working and it’s never a job. He didn’t need material items to find happiness. Dennis was known by all who met him as a very welcoming, quiet man. He had few words but strong passion for life. A family Graveside service was held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Coronach Cemetery, Coronach, SK. Pallbearers were Trevor Gibson, Eric Lemieux, Orrin Foley, Travis Harkes, Morgan Clark, and Claire Atkinson. A Memorial Service followed at the Coronach Community Hall. Mr. Hans Zoller officiated at both services. A tribute to Dennis was given by Clancy Foley. Donations in memory of Dennis may be made to the Coronach Health Care Foundation for the handivan fund.
