Doris May Hicks

May 1st, 1944 to August 7th, 2021

Doris was born in Bengough, SK on May 1st, 1944 to Ernest and Ella Carlson. She attended Hexagon School for one year and then Bengough School for the remaining years. After graduation, she worked at Bengough Co-op store, Safeway in Regina and then 28 years at the Bengough Credit Union where she retired.

Doris married Keith Hicks at Lumsden United Church, Lumsden, SK on December 24, 1965. Doris and Keith made their home in Bengough and in 1977, with family and friends, built the house they live in.

Doris had many enjoyments: travelling across Canada and the United States, playing guitar, singing, photography, and taking care of her cats. Doris also took pride in her garden and flowers, making sure everything was in place. Marigolds were always planted somewhere.

Doris is survived by her loving husband, of 55 years, Keith; daughter Penny (Karl) Nergard; son Greg (Jennifer) Hicks; grandchildren Catlin (Brandy), Brodie (Carissa), Raylene (Chase), and Olivia; great-grandchildren Dawson, Lydia, Axel, Emersyn, and Wyatt; sister Elsie Pana, brother Richard (Marcia) Carlson, sister-in-law Shirley Carlson, brother-in-law Sid Huntley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Ella Carlson, brother Wesley Carlson, sisters Esther Johnson and Grace Krusky, and brothers-in-law Jack Johnson and John Krusky.

As per Doris’ wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place at the Bengough Cemetery for Doris’ immediate family.
