Mrs. Elena Wortman

Elena Wortman, of Rockglen, SK, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 9, 2016 just two days short of her 92nd birthday. She was born November 11, 1924 on the farm and was the third child of eight siblings. Her parents were Zachariah and Mary Balon, of the Elm Springs area. Elena was very proud of her Romanian heritage. Elena was predeceased by her first husband Ralph Nielsen (1967), her son Richard Nielsen (1987), second husband Dave Wortman (2007), and by two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her sister Millie Scott (Peter), daughter Rosalie Belsher (Ron) and son Nairn Nielsen (Brenda); five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Elena will be remembered for her true determination to make life better for her family despite all of the hardships she endured. Her work ethic showed in her approach to everyday life on the farm and surrounding community. Funeral Service was held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Rockglen Community Hall, Rockglen. Linda Kirby officiated. Tribute was given by Rosalie. Interment in the Rockglen Municipal Cemetery.
