Georgina Elmira Tindall (nee Goudie), wife of the late Clarence Tindall (2012), passed away peacefully at Grasslands Health Centre (GHC) in Rockglen, SK on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Georgina was born in Earl, SK on September 26, 1922 to George and Elizabeth Goudie. She was raised on a farm south of Fife Lake, SK with three siblings, (two others had passed away in 1918). Georgina was very close to her sisters: Ruth Feere Dobbs and Isabel Bartlett (1987) and Ida Hayter (2007). She travelled often to Ontario to see Ruth and saw Isabel and Ida at dances and family get-togethers. She married Clarence in Assiniboia, SK on March 29, 1945. She worked hard by his side for 67 years as they took up ranching and later farming. In the spring she would take 2 night shifts to check on birthing cows and sheep, then spend 6 to 10 hours a day riding a horse to check on the livestock and treat any sick animals. Georgina made hot meals at 12 noon every day, and took them to Clarence when he was in the field. She always made extra so anyone dropping in to visit (they had no phone until 1988) could eat a meal with them or share a piece of freshly baked cake (later she switched to store bought cookies) with their coffee. She often held family meals with more than 30 people attending throughout the day, eating in shifts as there was not enough room for everyone to sit down. They attended local rodeos in the summer and played cards in the winter, but dances with live music were their favourite entertainment all year long. Both Georgina and Clarence loved to dance and were well known in many towns in the area. Although Georgina worked hard on the farm, she always looked her best when out socially or in town. She took pride in her appearance, enjoyed buying new dresses and later started having her hair done weekly. Georgina was well known in the community, often attending showers, graduations, weddings and funerals. She had a gift for remembering everyone's name and making you feel special. Georgina will be missed and always remembered by her loving family; one child Darlene (Gavin) Heald of Medicine Hat, AB, two granddaughters Kiri (Simon Ostheimer) of Phuket, Thailand and Tala of Edmonton, AB, two great-grandchildren Kaian and Siana Ostheimer-Heald and sister-in-law Alice Tindall. Funeral Service was held for Georgina in the Wesley United Church in Rockglen on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Linda Kirby officiating. “Georgina always looked for the good in people and was well loved,” she said. The eulogy was given by nephew Dwayne Hayter and a tribute was read from Kiri by friend Michele Hansen. Pallbearers were Georgina’s great niece, great nephews and 1 great-great nephew: Troy Bartlett, Shawna Gieni, Aaron Bowers, Kurtis Bartlett, Roger Prefontaine, Dean Griffin. Her interment at Rockglen Cemetery was followed by a luncheon for family and friends. Georgina spent her last 14 months in Grasslands Health Centre. Many thanks to the kind caregivers who looked after her. Memorials in memory of Georgina may be made to the Town of Rockglen for a blanket warming cupboard at GHC. Thank you for those already received.
