After a long battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Gerald Siggelkow, at the age of 84. He passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Dad was born May 15, 1934 in Assiniboia, SK. Dad did what he loved best - farming. He took over the family farm in Rockglen, SK after his father Bill passed away in 1959. It wasn't long after that, he met and married his wife, Eunice (Thurlow) in 1963 and started a family. After Dads retirement, the farm was passed on to his son Clint. Dad still loved to be out on the tractor and helped Clint with the cattle as much as he could. As any farmer can attest, there was no shortage of work to be done. Anyone who knew Dad, knew he loved to socialize, and his favourite saying was "A person is only a stranger once". So with that, it was no surprise he had many friends.
He was predeceased by his mother Frances (Fanny), father William (Bill), infant daughter Angela, and infant grandson Tyson Markel. Dad leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Eunice, of Rockglen, SK, five children Debbie Markel (Darryl) of Regina, SK, Clint of Rockglen, SK, Shelley Neudeck (Corey) of Moose Jaw, SK, Ryan (Jenn) of Bow Island, AB, Pam Hind (Scott) of Saskatoon, SK and very close family friends most notably, Tina James, who was considered one of Dad’s "adopted daughters"; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Swanson (Glenn) and brother Robert (Bob) Siggelkow and special nieces and nephews.
We would love to give a big thanks to the home care team in Rockglen that helped out tremendously with Dad - - Tina James, Shannon Stewart and Gayle Knoss.
As requested by Gerald there will be no Funeral Service. Expressions of sympathy for the Siggelkow family may be shared at www.rossfuneralservice.com. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK
