As a young boy chasing foul balls, followed by playing little league through Twilighters, all in Flintoft. He coached his children and umped in Limerick. In the early years, Irvin helped his Dad in the Flintoft curling rink placing, cleaning, and pebbling the ice (using coal heat for the water), so they could curl in the evenings. Throughout it all, Irvin played piano, completing his Grade 8 RCM and hunted with his dog, Bronco.
Irvin attended school in both Wood Mountain and Limerick. He then went to U of S, completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He loved sports and played many intramurals while in university. He was active socially as an Agro and cultivated many friendships that lasted through his life.
He returned home to farm with his dad and was joined shortly after by his brother. They built a 110-sow farrow to finish hog barn, that was large at the time, and operated it until 1997 when he promoted and helped build a 1200 sow farrow to finish hog barn, which he managed for almost 10 years through lots of changes. It was a 2500 Sow farrow to wean operation when he left to work at Whitemud Resources, a cement additive company, as a Process Operator. In five months, he was promoted to Process Coordinator and later Plant Manager which he continued until he passed.
Irvin served on numerous boards which included Saskatchewan Hog Board, Canadian Pork Council, Limerick Coop, Flintoft Hall, and numerous baseball leagues as well as CARD (a funded rural development committee).
In 1985, Irvin met Wendie Borgerson and they married in February, 1986. Their children Brittney and Jeremy followed. Life stayed busy with work, piano lessons, camping, 4H and the many sports activities.
In later years, he enjoyed golfing, reading, bowling, fishing, gardening, and card, board games and community choir. He enjoyed sharing jokes and political conversation and most of all being with family.
