Lyle Hanna

We are sad to announce the passing of Lyle William Hanna of Assiniboia, SK, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 5, 2023 at the age of 84. Lyle was born on August 25, 1938, in Oxbow, SK. He moved to Assiniboia in 1960, and married Bonny in 1963. He is survived by his wife Bonny (née Gorius), daughter Marni Chadwick (husband Brent and children Jesse and Brennen), son Duane Hanna (wife Leann and children Brynn and Declan) and son Garnet Hanna (wife Samantha and children Autumn and Ireland); as well four siblings Gwen & Chris (dec’d) James, Cam & Rose Hanna, Neal & Georgina Hanna, Jan & Len Barrows, Shirley (dec’d) & Colin Baldwin, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the community, and especially enjoyed curling, golfing, coaching, watching his children and grandchildren play various sports, summer at the lake, and winter down south. Lyle was a fixture in Assiniboia and surrounding communities during his 30+ year career with Dairy Producers. He lit up a room with his laughter and sense of humour, always telling stories and cracking jokes. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm on January 11, 2023 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Assiniboia, SK. Pastor Sarah Mowat officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Dick Richards, Les Coldwell, Les Wyber, Richard Silzer, Bob Derbyshire, and Walter Weiss. Urn Bearer was Marni. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Lyle had requested donations to the Assiniboia Regional Park for the Assiniboia Golf Club or Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
