Madeline Walters

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Madeline Walters. Madeline was born May 19, 1935 in Limerick, SK. She had three older brothers and one younger sister. Her Mom, Hjordis Morrison ran the local telephone office in Limerick, then later moved to Lafleche where Madeline, along with her Mom and sister Gert ran the telephone office.

It was in Lafleche, that Madeline met Donnie Walters. They were married on June 5, 1953. Madeline and Donnie moved to Assiniboia and started their family of three; Evan, Trevor and Tammie. While in Assiniboia, she enjoyed her time working at Glauser’s Department Store.

The family moved a few times in the following years, Swift Current in 1963, Drumheller, Alberta in 1967 where Madeline baby sat and worked at the Robinson’s Store, Melfort in 1972 and then completed the circle back to Assiniboia in 1976 where Madeline was employed at Ross Payant Nursing Home.

Madeline passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022 at Ross Payant Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond, Norman Jr., Gerald and Gertrude. Madeline will be deeply missed by her husband Donnie of 68 years, her children: Evan (Cathy), Trevor (Nicole) and Tammie (Brian); grandchildren Riah, Megan and Payton and many nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Ross Payant Nursing Home for the care given and being so kind to her and our family. Also thank you to Dr. Carulei for his care for our mother over the years.
