
Mary Brandt passed away February 6, 2015 in her home in Assiniboia, SK. Mary recently celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends in attendance. Funeral Service was held on February 10, 2015 at Ross Funeral Chapel. Pastor Doug Miner officiated. Great-granddaughter Taylor Brandt sang ‘Dancing in the Sky’ and a tribute to Mary’s life was given by her grandchildren, Chris and Bridget. Pallbearers were grandson, Chris Brandt, great-grandsons Tyson Brandt and Jacob Kropf, nephews Dennis Morse, Duane Smith and Craig Segeart. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Donations were received for the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Mary (Morse) was born December 26, 1919 on the family farm in the Kayville District. Mary enjoyed baseball in her younger years, curling, music, knitting, needlework, crocheting, vegetable gardening and flowers. She belonged to the Homemakers Club and the Kayville Ladies Curling Club where she was president for many years. Mary enjoyed cooking and visiting with family and friends. Anyone who came to visit enjoyed her baking – you never went away hungry.
Mary married Jacob Brandt in Kayville, Sask. in 1939. Following their marriage they made their home on the farm. In 1956 they moved to the town of Kayville. In 1976, Jake and Mary retired from farming, then sold their home in Kayville and moved to the town of Assiniboia.
Mary loved her family and friends and grandchildren in her later years, when her great-grandchildren Tyson, Taylor, Jalen, Joshua, and Jacob came to visit it was a special day.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Jacob, brothers Con (Molly), Peter (Ann), and George (Eva); sisters Tilley, Annie (Fritz), Doris (Alex), and Lena (John). She is survived by son Keith (Judy), of Assiniboia, grandchildren Chris (Bev) of Moose Jaw and Bridget (Barret) Kropf of Langley, BC; five great-grandchildren: Tyson (Taylor) of Moose Jaw, Taylor Brandt of Assiniboia, Jalen, Joshua and Jacob Kropf of Langley, BC, brother Dan (Elena) Morse of Regina, sister-in-law Dorothy Brand of Windsor, as well as several nieces and nephews.
