

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Eliza Kenny (McCaig) on July 6, 2014 at 90 years of age in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, formerly of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.
Mary was born on July 1, 1924 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan where she was raised until she moved to Fort William, Ontario to work in a munitions factory during the war. While working, she met her love, Neil Kenny and they married in 1944. In 1955 they returned to Saskatchewan and began their family in Tisdale, where they adopted their first son, Loren. During their brief stay in Regina, they adopted their second son, Rickie. In 1959 they moved to Kipling for two years. In 1960 they welcomed their adopted daughter, Kathy, and moved to Stoughton, Saskatchewan for eight years. Here, Mary began her lifelong service with the Royal Canadian Legion.
In 1968 they moved to Gravelbourg, where Mary was a proud owner of her own hobby store. In 1980, she and Neil moved to Assiniboia. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed volunteering for community events and senior groups. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed her weekly outings to the alley. However, her love for her children always came first.
Mary will be sadly missed by all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil Kenny, her sister Leona, her brother Harvey as well as her grandchildren Ryan and Heather.
Mary leaves behind her three children: Loren (Marilyn) of Edmonton, Alberta, Rickie (Sharon) of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Kathy (John) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan as well as seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mary will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts forever.
Service of Remembrance was held July 10, 2014 in the Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Pastor Larry Glaeske officiated. Tribute was given by her son, Loren. Honour Guard and Rites were conducted by the Royal Canadian Legion Assiniboia Branch #17. Urn bearer was her son, Rickie and her daughter, Kathy was flower bearer. Interment followed at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia.
Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
