Mary Wood Seal

Mary Walter Seal of Assiniboia, SK passed away on September 5, 2014 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital at the age of 98. Mary Seal (nee Wood) was born on the family farm in the district of Verwood, Saskatchewan. After graduation, Mary attended Normal School in Moose Jaw. Her teaching years were many – retiring in 1975. Mary was predeceased by her husband John Walter in 1978, infant son Donald in 1939, husband Elgin Seal in 1991, and son Terry in 2014, all her siblings: Robert, Agnes, Margaret, Edward, Rebecca, Jane Ann, Arthur, Alice, Stephen, Reuben, Hannah, George and Joseph. Mary is survived by four children: Keith (Marguerite) Walter of Spruce Grove, AB and their daughter Memorese; Shirley (Les) McDowell of High River, AB; Sharon (Ken) Berner of Assiniboia, SK and their sons Jason, Kelly (Renae), Glenn (Charlene) and families; Patricia (Jack) Roszell of Okotoks, AB and their family Bill (Charlene), Neil (Larissa) and Tammy (Vern) Campbell and families; daughter-in-law Colette Walter of Coronach and her family Corey and Courtney (Duane) Setrum and family. Mary is also survived by one sister-in-law Nora Westgard, brother-in-law Gordon (Doreen) Walter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. To fulfill Mary’s life in later years, she enjoyed many hobbies: crocheting, petit-point, floral arranging, home decorating, reading, playing the piano, embroidering, gardening and helping her family and friends. Funeral Service was held Monday, September 8, 2014 in Ross Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated. Tribute was delivered by Grandson, Neil Roszell. Pallbearers were: Grandsons: Bill Roszell, Kelly Berner, Glenn Berner, Corey Walter; Great-grandsons: Burjess Campbell, and Kevin Roszell. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
