

Norma Morrow, of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2013 at Providence Place, Moose Jaw, SK. Norma Betty (nee Church) was born on the family farm at Stavely, Alberta on October 27, 1923 and resided in that district until April, 1943, when she left to serve in the RCAF (WD), as a clerk steno. Prior to that time she had been employed as a domestic for four years after having to leave High School at age fifteen, finishing grade ten. On May 3, 1946, while still in the Air Force, she married Bob Morrow in Calgary and subsequently moved to the Big Beaver area of Sask. In July, 1950, with their two children, they moved to Buffalo Gap where Bob began a thirty-three year career with Sask. Wheat Pool Elevator Co. There were later moves to McCord in 1954, Rockglen in 1960 and Sintaluta in 1975 before retiring to Assiniboia in 1983. Norma was actively involved in the life of each community in which she lived and in earlier years was a dedicated worker for her Church. She had served in almost every department and on every committee from Cradle Roll through Nursery, Sunday School, Mission and Service, Couples Club, U.C.W., Observer Rep., Membership Roll, two terms on the Church Board, the Catering Group and for twenty-four years was a member of the United Church Choir. For many of those years she was also Church caretaker. She was caretaker of the Rockglen Credit Union for ten years, was Rockglen correspondent to the Assiniboia Times for fourteen years and had also reported local news from Buffalo Gap and McCord. She was a member of the Home and School Association, Square Dance Club and Community Clubs in earlier years and was Library Assistant at Rockglen for two years. She enjoyed curling and was Secretary Treasurer of the Ladies Curling Club at Rockglen and buyer for the rink kitchen for six years. She was a member of the Lionels Club (Lioness) at Sintaluta and assisted with many events there. She was also a member of the Pioneer Lodge Auxiliary, the Bowling League and Club 55. She enjoyed elderly folk and had always had an older neighbor to watch over, run errands for, do lawns, shovel snow, deliver mail, etc. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and had made afghans and quilts for each of the children and grandchildren. She inherited her love of walking from her father and also liked letter writing and crafts. She played the accordion and harmonica for her own enjoyment and was interested in genealogy, having researched the family tree on both sides. She had a stamp collection, a foreign coin collection and also collected dolls from other countries. She enjoyed travelling and, with her husband, had visited many countries worldwide. Predeceased by her parents, Hubert and Mary Church; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Jepson; brother, Barry; sister, Maxine Morton and sister-in-law, Janet Church, she leaves her husband, Bob of Moose Jaw; her son, Wesley (Ellenore) Morrow of Nelson BC; five grandchildren: Sheila, Shane, Sheldon, Jason and Angela; ten great-grandchildren: Keifer, Kyla, BJ, Justin, Ethan, Grayson, Jonathon, Ilya, Elle and Liam; sister, Mary (Bill) Twemlow of Aldergrove; brother, Bob Church of Surrey; brother-in-law, Sid Morton of Port Alberni and many nieces and nephews. Celebration for the Life of Norma was held on November 23, 2013 at the Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK, with Marilyn Luety officiating. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
